ROOSTER EXECUTION
Until today, Sept 11, 2010, there were three roosters at God's Vineyard. This spring, the garden welcomed eight new chicks, hatched from eggs fertilized by those roosters. Now, they are headed to the pot...
Plucking, gutting, and cleaning took place at God's Vineyard volunteer Sarah Rath's house nearby in the Irish Channel. The roosters were dunked in not-quite-boiling water to soften their skin and loosen the feathers. Plucking is a painstaking process...about 45 minutes per bird.
